I would like to express my deep gratitude to Rabbi Lazarow and the entire TBI community for putting their trust in me and standing up to the hateful slander that is being circulated . I promise to make them all very proud they have!
I feel a dark shadow is passing over our beloved state of Israel and Jewish communities everywhere. It is distressing and dangerous. It is our job to fight it, each with his own little candle, with his own special ray of light, because the soul of Israel, of “beit yisrael”, is worth fighting for!
I have been doing this for the duration of my career, doing the best I can…and it is wonderful to see that in faraway Australia, which I will be visiting now for the first time in my life, there are so many good people shining their lights inwards and outwards, illuminating all that is good in the human spirit.
I will not embark on a crusade of self-justification, my opinions and ideas are all written clearly in the many blogs and articles I have published. They can be summarised in one sentence: “love your brother (and sister) as you love yourself”.
I do, however, wish to draw your attention to a letter written by the director of the Israeli Foreign Affairs office responsible for arts and sciences, Rafi Gamzo, and sent to all Israeli embassies in the world, and to a video of the late president Shimon Peres, sending his best wishes to Gil Dor and myself on the occasion of our 25th career anniversary.
