Under pressure from BDS, SodaStream moved its main plant out of the West Bank into Israel proper, firing most of its 500 Palestinian workers in the process. It tried to save the jobs of the last 74 of them - skilled, loyal and veteran employees - who began to commute to Israel. On 29 February 2016, however, Israel refused to extend work permits for the 74, so they too lost their jobs.
