Pope Paul VI’s declaration on 28 October 1965, following adoption by Vatican Council II, rejected teachings of deicide, contempt and persecution and is arguably the most far-reaching reform effort of the Roman Catholic Church in centuries and the most important moment in modern Jewish-Christian relations.
